1983 US Festival on, oh yes, a muscle tee. A lineup of seemingly all headliners, including the Clash (who played on New Wave Day, ick), David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, Mötley Crüe, U2, Missing Persons, Willie Nelson, the Pretenders, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, and Judas Priest, performed in air-conditioned tents with “out-door” rain installations to fight the San Bernardino, California, heat. (Can you imagine air-conditioning at Coachella??) But sponsor Steve Wozniack, co-founder of Apple Computers, lost about $20 million (the equivalent of about $46 million today) in the two years that the US Festival was held. Something so incredibly awesome will likely never happen again, thus this shirt is both visually and historically epic.
