The agent was contacted by socialite Jill Kelley, who complained of receiving threatening emails. They were later revealed to be from Paula Broadwell, the biographer and paramour of Petraeus. The agent, a friend of Kelley's, was removed from the case for sending her a shirtless photo of himself before the investigation was opened. A lawyer for Humphries said the photo was a joke.
