I. OPEN CALL

SONG YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SING:
--Up to 30 seconds of a Cover Song from the "Nashville Star Approved Cover Song List". This must be sung a cappella or with an acoustic instrument. Applicants on the first may NOT plug in their instruments or have an accompanist.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:
--Completed SHORT application form
--1 PHOTOCOPY of a government issued photo ID

II. CALLBACKS FOR SELECTED PERFORMERS

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SING 2 SONGS CONSISTING OF EITHER:
A. 2 Cover Songs from the "Approved Cover Song List" (max. 2 minutes 30 seconds each).

B. 1 Cover Song from the "Approved Cover Song List" (max. 2 minutes 30 seconds) AND 1 Original Song (max. 2 minutes 30 seconds).

Applicants on the second day may have an instrument OR have an accompanist "accompany" them with an instrument only, NO VOCAL HARMONIZING.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:
--Completed LONG application form
--2 PHOTCOPIES of 2 forms of ID: one government issued Photo ID, AND either a Social Security Card, Birth-certificate, or Passport

TO PERFORM YOUR ORIGINAL SONG, YOU MUST BRING:
--Certificate of Copyright, proof of song registration with BMI, ASCAP, etc., OR a notarized copy of the application applying for copyright (this is required regardless of whether you and/or a third party wrote the song).
--Exhibit "A" - Original Song Acknowledgement Form (to be completed by contestant – p. 13 of Application)
--Schedule "A" (to be completed by contestant – p. 14 of Application)
--Exhibit "B" (any individuals, writers & publishers, who own all of or part of the Original Song must each complete a separate Exhibit "B" – p. 15 of Application)

ONLY IF YOU ARE USING AN ACCOMPANIST FOR YOUR COVER AND/OR ORIGINAL SONG, YOU MUST BRING:
--Accompanist/Bystander Release Form (p. 16-17 of application)

There is no time to set-up or tune instruments. If you bring an instrument, you must be ready to perform when you are called. Please note that callbacks will take place the day following the open call. If you are traveling to the open call, please make the necessary arrangements.
