(4/19/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Godsmack is riding high on several charts--two as part of the soundtrack to The Scorpion King, three more for the collection's single, "I Stand Alone," and another for the band's new DVD release, Smack This!
Smack This! debuted at Number Three last week on the Soundscan Top DVD Music Videos chart, according to industry sources. The entry was the second-best debut for the period, trailing only Megadeth's Rude Awakening.
Meanwhile, Music From And Inspired By 'The Scorpion King' is Number Seven on the Billboard 200 album sales chart, and Number Two for a third consecutive week on the publication's Top Soundtracks chart, behind only the juggernaut O Brother, Where Art Thou? collection.
And "I Stand Alone" appears on three Billboard singles charts, sitting at Number Four on the Mainstream Rock Tracks listing.
One fan of that song is the Rock, star of The Scorpion King. He says that Godsmack frontman Sully Erna's study of the film's theme and story led to the creation of a great song. "Godsmack sat down with Chuck Russell, the director, and Chuck laid out the entire story and what my character was all about, and Sully wrote the song. That's what makes the song so great. When you see that on the trailer, 'I Stand Alone,' that's a hot, hot song, and very indicative of what the character's all about," the Rock says.
Erna also produced the soundtrack to The Scorpion King.
