Dr. Dre Loses Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

(5/8/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- Dr. Dre was found guilty of copyright-infringement on Monday (May 5). A jury has recommended the producer pay $1.5 million to Minder Music Ltd., a London-based music publisher for illegally using the bass line of Fatback's 1980 tune "Backstrokin'," in his hit "Let's Get High" featuring Kurupt, Hittman, and Ms. Roq.
"Let's Get High" was included on Dr. Dre's last album, 1999's 2001, which has sold more than 6 million copies since its release.
