Ashanti Says She Kept The Same Formula On New Album

(7/1/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- R&B singer Ashanti (Ashanti Douglas) will release her sophomore set, Chapter II, on Tuesday (July 1). The first single from the set, "Rock Wit U," is presently Number Three on the urban Radio & Records National Airplay chart.
Recently LAUNCH spoke with Ashanti who described the formula she used for Chapter II. "We kept the same formula as the first album,” Ashanti says. “I think we just took everything up a level, you know vocally, lyrically, musically. I mean, I'm just happy with it. We have a lot of different topics on there that I didn't put on the first album."
Chapter II was written by Ashanti, produced by Irv Gotti and features guest appearances by Chink Santana and Gunnz.
Ashanti's 2002 self-titled solo debut has sold more than 3 million copies.
