Ramones Tribute Includes Never-Before-Seen Photos

(2/12/03, 1 p.m. ET) -- We're A Happy Family: A Tribute To The Ramones hit stores on Tuesday (February 11), and it features a veritable who's who of Modern Rock. The tribute was put together by Johnny Ramone and Rob Zombie. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Metallica, U2, Eddie Vedder & Zeke, and Pete Yorn all recorded covers of Ramones classics. Even fellow New Yorkers and classic rockers Kiss contribute to the album.
Zombie told LAUNCH what really makes We're A Happy Family unique is the artwork and the never-before-seen pictures of the Ramones.
"I wanted to make the package very desirable for Ramones fans," Zombie said. "So that like a real Ramones fan who maybe doesn't want to hear other people do the songs could get the package and go, 'Wow. Look at this!' It's a deluxe package with a huge booklet inside that's filled with photos that no-one's ever seen before."
Zombie added, "To get those photos, you know, I contacted Arturo Vega who has been the Ramones from day one as their merch guy, and their lighting guy, and their friend and everything. And he helped out compiling from his private collection just photos that no one's ever seen."
