(5/7/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Blur's Think Tank hits record stores Tuesday (May 6). The band used different experimental recording methods to make the album.
Bassist Alex James said one unusual technique was having singer/songwriter Damon Albarn track his vocals outside. "A lot of it was recorded outside,” James said. “All the vocals were really done sitting on a roof. A lot of the drums were recorded outside as well. Because we, basically halfway through recording, slung everything on a truck and drove down to Morocco and set up in a barn down there."
"We were trying to get the record finished there, but it kind of led us to a load of more stuff and getting more complicated," noted James.
Think Tank features the first single, "Crazy Beat," which is currently Number 25 on the Radio & Records Alternative Radio chart.
Blur is touring its native England, and will be back in the U.S. for some radio festival dates starting May 24 in Washington, D.C.
