Incubus Singer Discusses New Bassist Ben Kenney

(5/21/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- Incubus is recording its follow-up album to 2001's Morning View, rehearsing for Lollapalooza, and breaking in new bassist Ben Kenney.
In a recent interview, singer Brandon Boyd wouldn't address the split with former bassist Dirk Lance, but he did talk about how Kenney--formerly with the Roots--is fitting in with the band.
"Mantastically. Magically. It's wonderful,” Boyd said. “It's one of the funnest things we've ever done. He's a very accomplished musician--in fact one of the more accomplished musicians I've ever met. He has that instinct about things that is kind of rare in true musicians. We don't really have to say much, he kind of just...goes."
Incubus hopes to be done with its new still-untitled effort by Lollapalooza's starting on July 3 in Ionia, Michigan. Other acts on Lollapalooza include Jane's Addiction, Audioslave, the Donnas, Queens Of The Stone Age, Cold and others.
Before officially joining Incubus, Kenney played a few dates in Los Angeles with Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and drummer Jose Pasillas in the side band Time Lapse Consortium.
