(10/31/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Rapper MC Hammer will release his new album, Active Duty, on November 20. The set will be released on Hammer's own WorldHit Music Group label in conjunction with Red Distribution. Ken Antonelli, president of Red Distribution, shared his thoughts on working with Hammer in a statement: "We were immediately compelled by Hammer's enthusiastic and tireless energy around releasing his new record and really believe the timeliness of the material will strike at the very heart of America. Anytime an artist sells as many records as Hammer has, you can never count them out, and we believe he has the goods to take this record to the top."
The first single from Active Duty is "No Stopping Us Now-U.S.A." Proceeds from the sale of single, which came out yesterday (October 30), will be donated to help the disaster relief efforts following the September 11 terror attacks. Hammer recently shot a video for the song in Washington, D.C., with the help of several members of Congress, who turned out to dance and to help sing the chorus of the song. Some of the members of the House Of Representatives who were present included J.C. Watts, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Tom Davis, Earl Hilliard, Alcee Hastings, and Jesse Jackson Jr.
In related news, the VH1 original movie based on Hammer's life, Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story, is scheduled to air on December 19 and will be broadcast simultaneously on BET. MC Hammer is also presently involved in several other projects: He launched his new clothing line, J Slick, in August, and he is currently working on MC Hammer USA, an interactive online portal.
