Trivia Time At VH1
12/08/1997 3:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Bruce Haring
(12/8/97) - VH1 threatens to forge a new generation gap with its upcoming music-based game show, My Generation (not to be confused with VH1's defunct oldies show of the same name, which was hosted by Herman's Hermits' Peter Noone). In each episode, boomers and slackers are pitted against each other in trivia competition. Presumably the fogies will nail all the obscure Moby Grape and Dave Clark Five mind-benders, while the younguns will rack up points for correctly pegging the Foo
Fighters, Beck and Prodigy (not to mention such progeny as Jakob Dylan, Carnie Wilson and Jeff Buckley). Round One centers on rock history; round Two requires identifying music videos. Producers are currently interviewing potential contestants and are seeking candidates with rock 'n' roll knowledge of their generation. Focus is fixed on the '60s forward--no beatniks or flappers need apply. Air date for the new show is early next year.
