Coolio Takes A Hit Off 'Mary Jane'

(12/4/97) - Rapper Coolio covers a Dust Brothers-produced take on Rick James's "Mary Jane" as the first single off the new Universal film Half Baked. The film, written by and starring Dave Chappelle (The Nutty Professor and Con Air) and Saturday Night Live's Jim Breuer, covers the efforts of two friends trying to raise money to bail a buddy out of jail. Directed by Tamara Davis (CB-4), the film also stars Guillermo Diaz (Girl's Town) and Harland Williams (Rocket Man) and features cameos by Janeane Garafolo, Jon Stewart, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Bob Saget, Stephen Baldwin, Tommy Chong and Willie Nelson. The soundtrack, out January 13th, features tracks produced by Tricky and the Dust Brothers.
