2Pac Rises To Number One

(4/4/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- Some five years after his tragic 1996 death at age 25, 2Pac's latest posthumous double-disc set Until The End Of Time arrives at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart this week on sales of more than 425,000 copies. The set features guest appearances by Lil' Mo, K-Ci & JoJo, and the Outlawz, and it ousts Shaggy from the top spot, sending the Jamaican superstar's Hotshot to Number Two even as it sold another 176,000 units.
The Dave Matthews Band's Everyday lands at Number Three this week, while 112's Part III drops from Number Two to Number Four, and Dido's No Angel sits at Number Five.
Other top-10 debuts this week include Train's Drops Of Jupiter, which makes a strong premiere at Number Six, and R&B/soul singer India.Arie, who lands at Number 10 with her debut, Acoustic Soul. Rounding out the top 10 are Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water at Number Seven, Trick Daddy's Thugs Are Us at Number Eight, and Aerosmith's Just Push Play at Number Nine.
Debuts of note this week include alt-rockers Buckcherry's Time Bomb at Number 64, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals' two-disc set Live From Mars at Number 70, and Gary, Indiana-based R&B singer Jesse Powell's JP at Number 71. Additionally, Saliva's Every Six Seconds enters at Number 85 and, in the latest round of Pearl Jam's authorized bootlegs, the three-disc set Seattle (11/6/00) achieves the highest debut of any album in the series, landing at Number 98. Meanwhile, Shawn Colvin's Whole New You comes in at Number 101 and the Josie And The Pussycats soundtrack lands at Number 112.
