(8/20/97) - In yet another case in the long litigation history of Creedence Clearwater Revival, a San Francisco judge in the U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Friday, August 15th that the remaining members of CCR can continue to perform and record under the slightly revised band name Creedence Clearwater Revisited. CCR founder, singer and main songwriter John Fogerty had been granted an injunction against bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford using the "Revisited" tag in October 1996; Fogerty feared the public would confuse the "Revival" and "Revisited" lineups as one and the same. The appeals court, however, cited little evidence that the revamped band name would cause confusion and lifted the injunction in Friday's decision.
