Diamond Rio To Join Opry

(3/23/98) - Diamond Rio will become the first band in 14 years to be inducted into Nashville's venerated Grand Ole Opry. Lead singer Marty Roe was surprised when the offer came following the group's guest Opry appearance last week, saying it was "a dream come true."

The last full band to be inducted into the Opry was the Whites in 1984. It's a homecoming of sorts for three of the Diamond Rio members: Roe, Jimmy Oblander and Dan Truman worked at Opryland USA theme park in 1986.
