Lauryn Hill Working On Screenplay

(3/12/98) - New mom and Fugee Lauryn Hill is working on a screenplay for the new film division of Ruffhouse Records, the recording home of the Fugees, Cypress Hill and Kris Kross, among others.

Hill will team with Isaki Shange, the novelist/ playwright behind For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide With The Rainbow Is Enuf.

"Lauryn really digs her, so we put them together," says Ruffhouse co-founder Chris Schwartz. "They're collaborating on a coming-of-age story. It will be about a girl who grew up in the South. It's a period piece, late-'60s, and the girl comes to the West Village in New York to become a singer."
