(8/26/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Last Friday's (August 22) Leed's Festival in England turned into a chaos when the crowd moved a stage safety barrier and injured 22 people as a result during System Of A Down's performance.
Members of the audience suffered rib damage and at least three people were taken to a hospital for further treatment. System Of A Down took a five-minute break and urged the audience to step back. A festival organizer said that the rest of System Of A Down's show carried on with no other reported incidents.
System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian told NME.com, "Because there are a lot of kids they get so excited they can push metal. They pushed the barricade. But once we found out, we stopped the show. We asked everyone: 'If all 60,000 of you can take a step back' and everyone looked at us as if we were crazy." He added, "You guys are some crazy motherf--kers to be right down at the front. That takes a lot of balls, strength and integrity to withstand being there in front of that many other fans."
Metallica, Linkin Park and Blur also played at the event.
