(5/15/03, 5 p.m. ET) -- Carlos Santana will donate the proceeds from this summer's North American tour to a South African human rights organization. Santana is giving the money to Artists For A New South Africa (ANSA), a non-profit group working for equality in post-apartheid South Africa. ANSA is also fighting the AIDS epidemic that's swept across all of Africa. Santana's North American tour starts June 11 in Atlanta and ends July 14 in Los Angeles.

Santana has always been socially active, raising and donating money for a variety of causes. He does it because he feels a responsibility to improve the world and to right the wrongs he's seen in his lifetime. "I have certain visions about how we can make this world a better place to live, to co-share, and to coexist," Santana said. "Live people on the planet is the most important thing. It's about all of us pointing our energy towards setting the ground for the new millennium, 'cause we don't want to make the same mistakes we made the last 2,000 years."

Santana will take part in a Southern California radio station concert on Saturday (May 17) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Also on the bill are his "Game Of Love" partner Michelle Branch, Sting, Nelly, Sugar Ray, Christina Aguilera, Craig David, Lisa Marie Presley, *NSYNC's JC Chasez, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Daniel Bedingfield, Bowling For Soup, O-Town, Amanda Perez, Tyrese, and Kiss.
