Ashanti Taking Her Time And Sticking To Winning Formula

(6/9/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- Grammy award-winning singer Ashanti will release her sophomore set Chapter II on July 1. The set is the follow-up to the singer's self-titled debut which sold more than 3 million copies.
Ashanti recently shared that she was rushed while recording her debut. "The first album was crazy because it was kinda rushed," Ashanti said. "No one expected 'Foolish' to do what it did. You know I had a whole bunch of spins on the radio and stuff, and I had no album. We were shooting the video, but I had no album. We only had 'Foolish.'"
The singer explained that with her latest, Chapter II, she had more time and she stuck to her winning formula. "With this album, there was a little bit more time and you know we kinda knew what we were after," Ashanti said. "We knew what formula to use because with the first one it worked."
