Alabama Joins Chesney, Crow & Hootie For Earnhardt Tribute Concert

(6/15/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Supergroup Alabama has just been added to the lineup at the all-star tribute to honor late NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Dale Earnhardt on June 28 in Daytona, Florida. The group's participation comes at the request of Earnhardt's widow, Teresa.
Alabama lead singer Randy Owen said, "We knew each other for quite a while. Around 1982, a friend of mine, Ralph Seagraves, said he wanted to bring this racing boy by the house. I didn't know who Dale was because he was just getting started."
The event, which takes place at the Daytona International Speedway, will also feature performances by Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Sheryl Crow, the Goo Goo Dolls, Hootie & The Blowfish and Delbert McClinton.
The Dale Earnhardt Tribute Concert will benefit the Dale Earnhardt Foundation, which aids charitable causes Earnhardt championed throughout his life.
