(10/2/03, 4 p.m. ET) -- In a huge week for new rock releases, albums from Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, and Dave Matthews will all debut in the Top 10 on this week's Billboard album chart. Matthews' new solo effort, Some Devil, comes in at Number Two, while Limp Bizkit's Results May Vary lands at Number Three. Nickelback's the Long Road comes in at Number Six. Fuel's new Natural Selection album and a greatest hits collection from Rob Zombie called Past, Present, And Future, also make their debuts at Number 11 and 15, respectively. Topping the chart is rap duo OutKast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
Despite an overall decline this week in global music sales, the approximate numbers for several new rock albums were healthy:
Dave Matthews -- 469,000
Limp Bizkit -- 325,000
Nickelback -- 200,000
Rob Zombie -- 94,000
Fuel -- 70,000
While the first-week sales of the Long Road are impressive, Nickelback bassist Mike Kroeger told LAUNCH that it'll be a while before the band knows if they can match the success of their multi-platinum 2001 album, Silver Side Up. "We'll find out in the next coming months who's really with us, and then we'll know where we stand," Kroeger said. "I think it's very much like an election every time you put out an album--it's like, do you want us to keep doing this or not? People cast their ballot when they buy the album."
Limp Bizkit's last album, 2000's Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water, debuted at Number One. It sold over one million copies in its first week of release, making it the first rock album to ever do so, and breaking the previous first-week record set by Pearl Jam with 1993's Vs.
