(4/7/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Papa Roach closes out its tour dates Monday night (April 7) in Denver. The tour is in support of its last album, Lovehatetragedy, but the band has been working on its next album. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix said they have written about half the album already.
P-Roach took an advance out on its next record to get a second tour bus and outfit it with studio equipment to maximize downtime on the tour. The band has seven songs written, but a few of them still need vocal tracks. Shaddix talked about some of the new Papa Roach songs slated for the next album, saying that there's a bit more of a positive message than usual in the new material.
"We've got a song called the 'Heart Of Darkness,' 'Portrait Of A Serial Killer,' and then we have another song called 'Mr. Unpredictable Life,'" Shaddix said. "We have another song called 'Harder Than A Coffin Nail,' have another song called 'The Happy Accident,' and it's kind of cool too because not all the stuff is fueled by pain. There's a little more sense of hope in like some of the stuff I'm writing now."
Shaddix added that the other members will have more lyrical input on the follow-up to Lovehatetragedy. A sample of a melody line to one of the new tunes was left by the singer on the band's website for fans to listen to.
Papa Roach will head into the studio after the tour to work out songs for the next effort, which the band hopes to have out by the end of the year.
