Deftones To Win ESPN Award

(4/3/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- The Deftones will receive an honor for the BMX Music Act Of The Year at the ESPN Sports Awards show, taped April 7 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles. The show will air as a two-hour special on ESPN April 10. The Deftones will be in the house to accept their award, as will other recipients such as Metallica, Jack Johnson, NoFX, Linkin Park, and Eminem. In a statement, the band said they were "honored and thrilled" to receive the award.
Recently, Incubus and Crazy Town were added to the performing lineup for the ESPN Action Sports & Music Awards, in which Black Sabbath is headlining the event. Ben Harper and De La Soul featuring Busta Rhymes are also performing.
Hosting the ESPN Action Sports & Music Awards is LL Cool J and Rebecca Romijm-Stamos. Presenters include: designer Paul Frank; musician Jack Johnson; actress Ali Landry; Jackass's Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, and Wee Man; actor Tom Green; athlete/actress Gabrielle Reece; action-sports stars Shaun Palmer and Rick Thorne; stars of the upcoming Josie And The Pussycats movie Tara Reid, Rachael Leigh Cook, and Rosario Dawson; Rob Zombie; B-Real; Daryl Hannah; Traffic's Topher Grace; Roswell's Katherine Hegl; Pennywise; action sports stars Tina Basich, Danny Way, and Jeff Emig, plus the Playboy X-treme Team.
