(2/11/00, 1 p.m. ET) - Representatives of the William Morris Agency met with Lollapalooza organizers yesterday (Feb. 10) to review the status of the festival. The main problem for the tour these past few years has been the acquisition of prime talent.

Filter's Richard Patrick was on the first Lollapalooza tour as a member of Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails , and he said that it was both visionary and unique as far as U.S. festivals are concerned.

"The first one, it was magical because Perry [Farrell] had realized that no one was doing festivals. They were doing it everywhere --Big Day Out, Reading Festival in England, Big Day Out in Australia -- but nobody was really doing that kind of stuff. And as opposed to your radio festivals -- and I'm not dissing on radio festivals -- but sometimes they lack the PA system, they skimp on lighting -- and this was an opportunity for Perry to bring his entire big huge extravagant light show and his crazy palm trees. It was a way more spectacular event."

Patrick added that he admired the festival because "Perry brought all these foods from around the country and he had different booths that explained to people, 'Hey, subculture is everywhere,' and it was definitely a big Lollapalooza festival."

Filter will return from Australia later this month, after which they have several TV performances scheduled, including The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on March 1. Chevelle will join Filter on a tour of the U.S. beginning March 3 in West Hollywood, Calif.
