(11/22/99, 5 p.m. ET) - All the rumors about Live still being under the weather can be put to rest--the band arrived in New York City on Thursday (Nov. 18) night and was out and about until 5 a.m. ET Friday morning (Nov. 19).

Recently, the band had to cancel shows in Detroit, Toronto, and Cleveland. Singer Ed Kowalczyk explains to LAUNCH, "[bassist] Patrick [Dahlheimer], [drummer] Chad Gracey, my brother Adam, who is playing my rhythm-guitar parts on stage, and myself, within 48 hours all passed around this crazy virulent bronchial flu chest virus God-knows-what, and it totally laid us out. And we've never canceled anything, really. Very rarely."

Kowalczyk adds that the band was put in a very awkward position. "My voice just completely shut off. We got up on stage in Indianapolis and, about three songs into it, I said, 'Well this is going to be fun.' So we did the whole rest of the show acoustically, down an octave." Kowalczyk says the band will make it up to fans in the canceled cities. "Not to worry…we're coming back. They're all rescheduled for January and February, so we're happy about that." After a brief vacation, Live will hit Europe for a three-week tour.
