(8/16/99, 4 p.m. PDT) - Not only do New York Goth-metal rockers Type O Negative have an album due out next month titled World Coming Down, but the band's "Haunted" appears on the Blair Witch Project soundtrack.

Type O recently went to check out the movie, and singer Peter Steele and guitarist Kenny Hickey were impressed. For Hickey, however, the movie hit too close to home. "I had almost the exact same experience when I was about 15 years old, with my friends," he recalls. "We were going camping for the first time in our lives. We were Brooklyn street kids. We don't know sh-t about trees and mountains.

"So we hike up into these woods on top of this mountain, and I remember just before we left the road, this pick-up truck came by with, like, 10 hicks on it going, 'We're going to come back tonight and kill you!' And we were like, 'Oh sh-t man, they're going to come back tonight and kill us.' So we hiked up this mountain, and made a fire at the top of the mountain, and around 11 at night, the fire is dying down, and we start hearing screams in the woods, and we were like, 'What the hell is that?' And we looked down to the bottom of the hill and there were three flashlights--we could see them flickering in between the trees heading up the hill towards us. And it was just like a whole buildup of terror," Hickey recalls.

"It ended up being my friend's father. He had dropped us off in the wrong zone," he explains. "We were in a wildlife preserve with bears, and they had to move us at 1:30 in the morning through the woods. We had like eight crates of canned food."
