(8/13/99, 4 p.m. PDT) - The Gin Blossoms may be done, but don't put a fork in them just yet. The band will return for a New Year's Eve show when singer Robin Wilson's new band Gas Giants shares the bill with the Peacemakers, which consists of members of the Refreshments and ex-Gin Blossoms guitarist Scott Johnson. The gig will take place in their hometown of Phoenix. "Somebody called us with a big check and said, 'Do you want to get the Gin Blossoms back together? We'll trade you for this check.' And we said, 'Sure.' It was a very easy decision to make," Wilson says. "Hey, everybody gets along really well, and it's not like we're going to have some big battle. It's going to be a lot of fun when the Gin Blossoms get back together again. And like I say, when the Gin Blossoms reunite now we'll know what we've got and we won't be taking it quite so for granted." Wilson says the band will take the show seriously and will even have some rehearsals prior to the gig. "I see a very amusing set of Gin Blossoms rehearsals sometime in December," he says. In the meantime, Wilson is involved in Gas Giants, whose debut, Beyond The Back Burner, is slated for an Oct. 12 release on Atomic Pop (LAUNCH, 8/12). To read a Gin Blossoms feature, click here.
