Grammys Head To School

(12/24/97) - Linda Ronstadt, Sammy Hagar, Deana Carter, Jon Secada, G. Love and the Hooters are among artists set to participate in this year's Grammy In The Schools program, which kicks off January 6th in Boston at the Berklee College Of Music. The 11-year old program presents workshops in 17 major cities on such industry-specific topics as audio engineering and vocal technique, all with an eye toward encouraging music industry careers. Participants in the program will get a newly-revised edition of the Recording Industry Career Handbook, which includes interviews on how to break into the biz from Tori Amos, Jewel, the Fugees and producers Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Don Was. The handbook also offers a list of colleges with music industry programs, record companies, and other resources.
