Eminem Disses Everlast
10/18/2000 10:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(10/18/00, 10 a.m. ET) - Eminem is at it again on the B-side of the new D-12 single, "S--t On You". D-12 is a group comprising Eminem and five members of his Detroit crew: Konartis, Bizarre, Proof, Swifty, and Kuniva. The group is signed to Eminem's Shady Records, a new joint venture with Interscope Records.
The B-side in question is "I Remember," wherein Eminem makes personal attacks on Everlast for switching styles over the years. Eminem makes light of Everlast's heart problems, his age, and his metamorphosis from his House Of Pain persona and his current "Whitey Ford" character. Eminem rhymes, "I went to get your s--t/Man, I was into it/But then you went and took your style and switched s--t/Now you sound ridiculous." Eminem even criticizes Everlast's singing and guitar playing.
To Eminem's credit, Everlast struck first with the remix of the Dilated Peoples' song "Ear Drum Pop," from the album The Platform. Although subtle, it was clear who Everlast was going after with the line: "I buck a 380 on ones that act shady/You know you ain't the one that repped peckerwood status."
D-12's album Devil's Night is due out in the spring. Everlast's latest offering Eat At Whitey's is out now.
