Buckcherry's Todd Says He's 'Boring,' Not A Cokehead

(3/29/01, 5 p.m. ET) -- Buckcherry is back with another album of gritty rock songs, Time Bomb. But even though the album includes tunes with titles like "Whiskey In The Morning," "Porno Star," and "Slit My Wrists," lead vocalist Joshua Todd says that it doesn't mean he lives the same life that is reflected in such themes.
Todd says that he's been battling such preconceptions ever since he sang "I love the cocaine, I love the cocaine" in the chorus of what is perhaps the group's most popular song, "Lit Up," from their 1999 self-titled debut album.
He tells LAUNCH: "I'm not, like, completely submerged in a pile of cocaine everywhere, you know, when I wake up in the morning, when I go to sleep, when I'm in the toilet. I'm not like, you know, always snorting blow everywhere I go. Everybody automatically assumes that, 'God, if you're singing about it you must be, like, just loaded all the time on the stuff,' and it's just not what it's about, you know? You would be surprised about what goes on behind the scenes. I'm a very boring person, really."
Time Bomb arrived in stores Tuesday (March 27). It features the single "Ridin'." You can catch the video clip of the song on-demand on LAUNCH.com.
