(2/4/01, 10 a.m. ET) - Veteran jazz singer Al Jarreau has Grammy Awards, best-selling albums, sold-out tours, and numerous other accolades under his belt. Now the multitalented performer will also receive the rare honor of having a star dedicated to him on the world-renowned Hollywood Walk Of Fame. The dedication ceremony will take place March 6 in Hollywood.
Jarreau began recording in 1965, and has been featured on more than 40 recordings. The Milwaukee native, who earned his performance chops on the club circuit in and around Los Angeles, has earned five Grammy Awards in three separate categories: pop, R&B, and jazz.
Last year the Chamber Of Commerce revealed that Jarreau would be among 23 celebrities slated to receive the honor in 2001, among them Winona Ryder, Kelsey Grammer, Kenny Loggins, Peter Fonda, the late Bob Marley, Randy Travis, John Lithgow, and Robert Wagner, among others.
