New Earth, Wind & Fire Album Coming Along

(12/13/00, 10 a.m. ET) - Earth, Wind & Fire is still hard at work on its next album. It was hoped the still-untitled collection would be released this year, but the band is more concerned with making sure the album is the best it can be rather than releasing something just to sell a few copies.
Longtime Earth, Wind & Fire drummer and percussionist Ralph Johnson gave LAUNCH this update. "We are currently in the studio--Maurice [White] is producing," he said. "We're getting some help from Wyclef Jean and also Eric Benet. We're looking forward to getting this piece of new product out. We're very excited about it. It's gonna be a lot of great songs and, actually, we can't wait."
There's still no word on when the album might be released, but in order to get it finished, the members of Earth, Wind & Fire have decided to spend as much time as possible close to home. That means the only show on their schedule is a December 30 date at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas.
