(3/15/99, 1 p.m. PST) - Mojo Nixon, the rock maniac who made his name with such scathing attacks as "Don Henley Must Die" and "Bring Me The Head Of David Geffen," as well as the tribute "Elvis Is Everywhere," is back with his first new album in four years.

On The Real Sock Ray Blue, due March 23 on Shanachie, Nixon & the Toadliquours once again deliver a combination of humorous attacks and tributes.

In "The Ballad Of Country Dick," Nixon pays homage to the late drummer/ singer of the Beat Farmers, who, like Nixon, emerged from the San Diego, Calif. club scene in the early '80s. Country Dick Montana died of a massive heart attack while performing onstage with the Beat Farmers in November 1995.

In the song, which borrows the melody of "Jesse James," Nixon blames Montana's death on "that evil rotten turd/ Mr. Mike Perv." He latter adds that Montana was "killed by record company cheaters/ Bean-counting wife-beaters." For the record, the Beat Farmers recorded for Curb Records, which is run by former California lieutenant governor Mike Curb.

Elsewhere on the album, Mojo offers up "Drunk Divorced Floozie (The Ballad Of Diana Spencer)" and the O.J. Simpson-themed "Orenthal James." The latter begins with the lines, "Orenthal James was a mighty bad man/ He killed two people last night."

Aside from the Mojo originals, the album also includes "U.P.S. My Heart," a song co-written by Steve Poltz, the sometimes-Rugburns frontman and fellow San Diegan who penned Jewel's monster hit, "You Were Meant For Me."

Features on Mojo Nixon, Steve Poltz, and Jewel are available now on LAUNCH.com.
