Travis Finds Queen To Be 'Killer'

(5/18/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- Travis has recorded a near-note-for-note version of the classic Queen song, "Killer Queen," which will be used as a b-side for the U.K. release of its newest single, "Sing." "Killer Queen" finds the group teaming with former Jellyfish guitarist Jason Falkner.
The Freddie Mercury-penned song originally appeared on Queen's 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack.
"Sing," the first single from Travis's upcoming third album The Invisible Band (due June 12), will actually appear on two different CD singles arriving overseas May 28. One version will not only feature the Queen song but also a new track by Travis bassist Dougie Payne titled "Ring Out The Bell." The second includes a new tune by frontman Fran Healy called "Beautiful"; as well as "You Don't Know What I'm Like," the vocal and songwriting debut of guitarist Andy Dunlop.
None of the B-sides appears on The Invisible Band; however, a spokesperson for Epic Records tells LAUNCH it is possible that the original compositions could appear on the initial American shipments of the album. There are no plans to release "Killer Queen" in the United States at this time.
Travis serves as the support act for Dido on her next North American tour, which kicks off in June 10 in Vancouver.
