(5/18/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- Sugar Ray bassist Murphy Karges is being drawn in by his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers, as the NBA playoffs heat up. With the semi-final match in the East still up in the air--Toronto and Philadelphia play game six tonight (May 18)--he shared his predictions for the NBA championship.
"I'm not the biggest basketball fan, but since I'm from right there near Los Angeles, I think the Lakers are going to be pretty hard to beat, so I see the Lakers coming out of the West," he said. "What do you think in the East? Toronto, man they came, they came strong. I think it's Toronto or Philly. You know what, I'd like to see Toronto, so I'm going to say that, but I think it's going to be Philly. Shaq versus Carter. That's who it's going to be."
Sugar Ray is set to release its self-titled album on June 12, and the band will head out on a summer tour with Uncle Kracker.
