(8/14/97) - Boy George, former dreadlocked poster Boy for gender-bending '80s popsters Culture Club, recently trashed the new Oasis LP, Be Here Now, in his regular column for the British music mag The Express. "This album is no masterpiece and Noel [Gallagher] has a long way to go before he even brushes the greatness of his hero John Lennon," wrote Boy. "The hunger that wrote the first album is gone but I, for one, only care about great songs and far too often Noel seems detached from his own....It is hard to be a working-class guru when you're sipping champagne in a Jacuzzi. I think a bit of spiritual development, like six months on an ashram would help immensely.... Joni Mitchell once sang, 'You can't find your goodness because you've lost your heart.' When Noel finds his heart he will be a special songwriter, rather than just a good one."
