Lang, McClinton, & Zevon To Rock For Gov. Jesse 'The Body' Ventura

(1/8/99, 1 a.m. PST) - Minnesota governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura may not have been successful in wooing Aerosmith to perform at his inaugural bash (myLAUNCH, 11/17), but he has still managed to line up a rather impressive bill of musicians to appear at the festivities. Performing along with Jonny Lang will be Delbert McClinton and Warren Zevon. The latter, best known for the 1978 hit "Werewolves Of London," canceled four concert dates so he will be on hand to perform "Lawyers, Guns And Money" at the Jan. 16 bash, according to the Star Tribune. The song, an apparent favorite of Ventura's, is featured on the acclaimed 1978 album, Excitable Boy, which also includes "Werewolves." McClinton is a veteran blues-rocker who gave John Lennon harmonica lessons. His songs have been recorded by the likes of the Blues Brothers, Eric Burdon, Otis Redding, and others. Teen blues sensation Lang is a Minneapolis resident who has also had a song appear on a Blues Brothers album. He recently told myLAUNCH that when he and his family first relocated to Minneapolis from Fargo, N.D., he received quite a shock. "We thought we were hot stuff, we had already won over Fargo, because we were the big blues band there," he said. "We moved to Minneapolis and were very quickly humbled by all the great bands in that city. I would go out every Monday night and play with these guys who used to play with Prince. They used to kick my butt every Monday night and that's how I got better." An interactive feature and performance by Lang are featured in the December LAUNCH CD-ROM.
