(6/29/00, 10 a.m.) - Comedian Bill Engvall is gearing up to release a new single and comedy album, both titled That's Awesome. The album will hit record stores on August 22, while the single lands at radio on August 21. After incredible success with his 1996 single, "Here's Your Sign," which paired Engvall with Travis Tritt, the comedian decided to try that method again. "That's Awesome" features the vocal talents of Engvall's good friends, singers Tracy Byrd, T. Graham Brown, and Neal McCoy. LAUNCH spoke with Engvall about his most recent collaboration: "If I could sing, I would do my show like Neal McCoy. If you've ever seen Neal live, it's just a blast. It's a party," raved Bill. T. "Graham Brown, in my mind, is probably the most soulful singer there is out there. Nobody can touch him, in my mind, and he's also fun. Tracy is like me, in the sense that he is an outdoor guy, he has fun in his show, and he's a great singer" Engvall added. "When I heard the finished product, I was just blown away. I mean, I knew it was a good song, but I wasn't ready for how good it was." Engvall is shooting the video for the new single today in Nashville. Although the video won't include Byrd, Brown, or McCoy, Engvall feels the clip will set him apart from the pack, as he tells us: "It's gonna be kind of a la Dick Van Dyke--my wife and my bedroom has twin beds and she's gonna have the flippy hairdo" he reports. "I wanted to do a video that's gonna catch people's eye, 'cause I watch CMT and I watch Great American Country and I start watching videos and they all tend to look the same. They all have that 'I'm on a farm, I drive a 1967 truck, my wife left me' ... I want something that people are gonna go, 'Whoa! Did you see this? This is cool.' Kind of like that TV Land." -- Margy Holland
