(6/28/00, 1 p.m. ET) Even though they have their first smash hit with "Take A Picture," Filter has decided to cut down on touring in support of its album Title Of Record and head back into the studio. In fact, singer Richard Patrick, with guitarist Geno Lenardo chiming in, told LAUNCH that they've already started recording.

"We've already been tracking," Partick says. "We rebuilt Abyssinian Sun [studio]. We've already started on the new record, which is weird for us because usually we're on tour for 18 months and then we build a studio for two years."

Adds Lenardo, "We're doing something productive. While being on tour for two years," Richard interjects, "me and Geno got in touch with our engineer and said, 'Look, get all the groundbreaking equipment, put it in this room, paint it like it's Abyssinia.'"

Patrick adds that the studio will look something like a planetarium. "We've got a ceiling that looks like clouds, and we've got these lights to approximate actual sunsets and sunrises and storms and turn it red, and it's beautiful. So we go in there and light some candles and turn on our four TV monitors and sit there and play with pro-tools for hours," he says.

Filter will play a few festivals during the summer, but Patrick says the focus is on the still untitled follow-up to Title Of Record.
