(6/27/00, 7 a.m. ET) - Former A Tribe Called Quest frontman and rapper Q-Tip received a minor court-ordered penalty for his part in a March 15 altercation that left one person with a broken jaw. Q-Tip pleaded guilty yesterday (June 26) to assaulting fellow rapper Kenrick Miranda outside a New York City record store. During the summer of 1999, Q-Tip would not allow Miranda to dispense his tape to passers-by outside New York's Hit Factory studios. On March 15, Q-Tip's and Miranda's paths crossed again, at which point a verbal altercation ensued and escalated to the physical. The charges against Q-Tip were discharged and he was ordered to pay the court fees of $120. -- Chad Dougatz, New York
