(3/29/00, 7 a.m. ET) - Tonic will play a Los Angeles event dubbed the Master Baker Bake Off in celebration of the home video release of the film American Pie. The event will take place at the Globe Theater in Universal Studios on May 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. ET. The band will play its song "You Wanted More," which is featured on the American Pie soundtrack; the home video of the movie will go on sale May 16 for $14.95. Five finalists will be chosen before a "Master Baker" is chosen, and actors from American Pie will be on the panel judging the contestants; the event will also feature live models wearing only baking utensils as apparel. "Master Baker" entrants must come up with their most outrageous and irreverent recipe ideas and submit them to www.americanpievideo.com; March 31 is the cut off date for voting, which can also be done at the site. Five finalists will be chosen for the contest, and they will be awarded travel and lodging in Los Angeles for the event. The chosen "Master Baker" will receive a DVD palm player and a library of Universal DVD product. -- Darren Davis, New York Got news tips, comments, or questions? Send them to newstips@launch.com.
