Echo & The Bunnymen Are Free Agents
10/13/1999 4:00 AM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(10/13/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - Echo & the Bunnymen have been dropped by their label, London Records, according to a label spokesperson. Lackluster sales figures for the band's most recent album, What Are You Going To Do With Your Life, apparently played a role in the band's release. "It was mutually agreed that they would leave," a Bunnymen spokesperson told NME. "They wanted to leave the label, and there was no animosity. They've demoed a whole bunch of new material and their manager is seeing other people. There's definitely positive interest in signing them, and that's all there is to say at the moment." While the band might be without a record label to call home, it doesn't mean Echo & the Bunnymen have stopped working. On the contrary, the band is currently on a North American trek, and it will be in Chicago tonight. For the Bunnymen's upcoming concert dates, click here.
