Mighty Mighty Bosstones Guitarist Exits
03/28/2000 4:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Craig Rosen
(3/28/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Shortly after finishing work on the Mighty Mighty Bosstones's forthcoming album, Pay Attention, guitarist and founding member Nate Albert told the band he was bowing out. Albert spent 14 years with the band and had been with them since he was 14 years old. He cited his desire to continue as a student at Brown University, where he is a senior, and the need to care for an ill family member as reasons for his departure. Friend and bassist Joe Gittleman said in a statement regarding Albert's departure on the Bosstones website (www.bosstones.com): "Nate is going to be missed. Not only because he is a great friend and a great guy to have around, but also because he is one of the best guitarist out there." Mighty Mighty Bosstones won't miss a beat, however, as they've already found a replacement - Lawrence Katz is currently rehearsing with the band in Boston. Katz, an Atlanta native, spent time in L.A. jamming with Khaleel and Julian Coryell. Katz said, "It's always been my goal, my dream, to tour and record with a great band like the Bosstones." -- Darren Davis, New York
