(3/27/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Former Verve singer Richard Ashcroft will release his still-untitled album this summer, but diligent fans should keep an eye out for his first import single. "A Song For The Lovers" is slated for a U.K. release April 3, and it will also feature the tracks "Precious Stone" and "(Could Be) A Country Thing, City Thing, Blues Thing." A spokesperson for Ashcroft told LAUNCH that there are currently no plans for a U.S. release of the single and B-sides, and there's also no hint as to what the singer's first U.S. single will be. Ashcroft will make his live solo debut at England's V2000 festival this August 19 and 20. At press time he had no other dates planned. In other Ashcroft news, he and wife Kate Radley of Spiritualized are resting at home with their new son, who was born on March 23. Reports out of England say the child, named Sonny, weighted in at nine pounds and one ounce, although a spokesperson couldn't confirm details about the child. -- Darren Davis, New York
