(8/20/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Uncle Kracker's clip for his new single, "In A Little While," features a guest appearance by fellow Atlantic Records recording artist Willa Ford. The female pop singer is Kracker's love interest in the video.
Kracker told LAUNCH that at director Nick Quested wanted him to be a little bit more intimate with the video's co-stars. "For the video they wanted me to take and be lovey-dovey with some girl, maybe some actor or something like that, and I didn't feel comfortable kissing on some chick in the video. I didn't want to be that kooky with the video. I said, 'You know what? If I have to pretend with somebody I might as well do it with somebody I know, and me and Willa are good friends, so I figured that by me and her being friends that we could get the same effect by acting in a different way. So it was cool. It worked out good."
Ford told LAUNCH that in the video, the "I Wanna Be Bad" singer portrays a good girl. "I play the girlfriend from back home in Detroit that gets left for everything that Kracker becomes and everything that he is now," Ford explained. "I play the really good girl next door."
Ford also told us that the video shoot with Kracker went really well. "It was fun. It was great working with him. He's a really, really nice guy. He called me and asked me as a favor to do it, so of course I did it. And the single is really strong, so I hope it does really well."
A large part of his not-so-romantic role had do to with Kracker's wife. "She wasn't hip to the whole idea anyway. So when I brought Willa in, and we didn't have to do no lovey dovey, no kissing. We didn't even have to be doing any hand holding or anything like that. It worked out good. I think I owe it to my wife not to be kissing chicks on TV."
"In A Little While" is from Kracker's September 24 release, No Stranger To Shame.
