(8/20/02, 5 p.m. ET) -- With their tour with Sheryl Crow having come to a close Saturday (August 17), the members of Train have returned to Northern California this week to put "last-minute finishing touches" on their next album.
"Two days in San Francisco should take care of it," the group writes on its website (trainline.com). "We're still set in getting this record in stores by early November and we're very excited about it and pretty sure you will be too."
The yet-to-be-titled third album is being produced by famed studio veteran Brendan O'Brien, who also oversaw Train's previous double-platinum effort, 2001's Drops Of Jupiter.
Further details remain sketchy at this point; however, one album track is called "Lincoln Avenue," performed by the band recently on stage in Nashville, according to the Tennessean. The paper described the song as a "mid-tempo cut that has [singer Pat] Monahan swooping and soaring power-ballad style."
Train has four more tour dates on the calendar, including a radio-sponsored show in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on September 22. Meanwhile, the band is now contemplating how to showcase the new album when it hits the road in support of it later this year. "We've got all kinds of ideas brewing and are really excited to get out there with a new album and a complete Train show for you all," the group writes.
Train dates (subject to change):
August 31 - Denver, CO - City Lights September 20 - Live Oaks, FL - Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park September 21 - New Orleans, LA - Riverview Park September 22 - San Francisco, CA - Golden Gate Park
