Lauryn Hill To Perform At Event To Benefit Afghanistan, Ethiopia, And Angola

(3/15/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Lauryn Hill, magician David Blaine, and percussionist Burhan Ocal will join a number of artists at the live auction benefit People And Places With No Name Tuesday (March 19) at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles.
Hill, whose MTV Unplugged album is due April 30 on Columbia, is scheduled to perform songs from her record.
The auction, conducted by Simon de Pury, chairman of Phillips de Pury & Luxembourg, will feature fine art, photography, and jewelry from the likes of Peter Beard, Vanessa Beecroft, and Andy Warhol.
Hill, Blaine, and Ocal will participate in the benefit performance and dance party of the event, which will be hosted by Tatiana von Furstenberg, Amelia Fleetwood, Savannah Buffett, Karen Kimmel, Jacqui Getty, and Liz Goldwyn.
People And Places With No Name provides awareness and aid to victims in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Angola. The program was founded by celebrity photographer Michael Comte in association with the American Red Cross and International Committee Of The Red Cross.
Other noted guests include co-hosts Geraldine Chaplin and Arthur Cohn, as well as Julian Schnabel, Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, Dennis Hopper, Kelly Lynch, Brad Rowe, John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Chloe Sevigny.
