(3/14/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- Charges levied against Puddle Of Mudd singer Wes Scantlin on Sunday (March 10) have been dropped. A source close to the band told LAUNCH that upon further review of the evidence, the Ventura County's District Attorney's office has decided to decline to prosecute charges filed against Scantlin of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or significant other.
Scantlin was arrested in Fillmore, California early Sunday morning (March 10). He was taken in on suspicion of injuring his fiancee, Michelle Rubin. Rubin was also taken in and jailed on suspicion of inflicting injury.
The two were en route to a music video shoot for "Drift And Die," the band's next single, when the singer allegedly began fighting with Rubin on the shoulder of the road near Center Street in Piru. At about 8:30 a.m. PT concerned citizens phoned police from their cell phones after witnesses told police Scantlin allegedly forced Rubin into a Jeep Cherokee. The struggle continued in the vehicle. Sheriff's deputies and California highway patrol officers found the Jeep, pulled it over, and arrested the couple.
Puddle Of Mudd's "Blurry" continues to top Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.
