Ginuwine's Big Screen Debut Postponed Until 2002

(10/10/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- R&B sex symbol Ginuwine has ventured into the world of acting. The singer plays the role of Romeo in the new Jessie Vaughan-directed movie, Juwanna Mann. Unfortunately for his fans, the movie, which was originally scheduled for a summer 2001 release, has now been pushed back until 2002.
Juwanna Mann also stars Vivica A. Fox, Tommy Davidson, Miguel A. Nunez, Kim Wayans, and Lil' Kim, and it centers around a basketball star who is ousted from the NBA for bad on-court behavior. In order to return to pro basketball, he poses as a woman, gets into the WNBA, and then must conceal his identity.
LAUNCH spoke with Ginuwine, who explained what it was like filming Juwanna Mann. "They all helped me along through the whole course of the movie while I was there, you know, 'cause my mom died while I was on the set, so that was kind of messed up--with the movie thing and all that, so it was kinda hard to get through, so they helped me get through that. You know, we had a lot of deaths on the set. Miguel Nunez's brother died, Kim Wayans's brother had died. It was crazy. We all felt closer to one another 'cause we comforted each other."
In related news, Ginuwine's latest album, The Life, has experienced a chart resurgence following the release of a second single, "Differences." The set has sold more than 900,000 copies to date and is rapidly approaching platinum status. Ginuwine's two previous efforts, 1996's The Bachelor and 1999's 100% Ginuwine, were both certified double-platinum for sales of two million copies.
