Shaquille O'Neal To Present Janet Jackson With Award On AMAs

(1/5/01, 3 p.m. ET) - Shaquille O'Neal will be the special guest who will present Janet Jackson with the prestigious Award of Merit during the 28th annual American Music Awards, which airs live on Monday (January 8) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
As show producer Dick Clark explained, Jackson joins an impressive list of past Award of Merit recipients. "She's in pretty good company, along with Frank Sinatra, her brother [Michael Jackson], Paul McCartney. . .a whole raft of wonderful musical contributors."
Clark told LAUNCH that in addition to receiving the Award of Merit, Jackson will be paid tribute with various clips recollecting her career: "What you'll see Monday night on the American Music Awards is a capsulization of her extraordinary career from the time she was a little bitty kid who came out on the stage of the American Music Awards with Michael to the time when she ruled the world with her music."
